I recently saw a design similar to that shown in the image at an upscale hotel in Las Vegas. Below is the same concept as found in an office building. The red circle shows where the lights are than indicate an elevator has arrived at your floor. Trouble is, if you are standing in a location similar to the one shown in the picture, you can't see the elevator-warning lights behind the column. It is quite annoying to hear bells dinging telling you an elevator has arrived, but where it is remains a big mystery!
