I'm attending the COMSOL Multiphysics 2012 Conference in Boston. Yesterday the company highlighted what's new in COMSOL Multiphysics 4.3a, just released this week. A few of the new features include:

LiveLink for Excel: Users can run COMSOL simulations from Excel 2010 and can import/export equations and the like from Excel into COMSOL.

Cloud computing: any COMSOL user with a floating network licence can upload simulations to Amazon Elite Compute Cloud (EC2). They pay Amazon per use.

ECAD Import Module: lets users import ECAD files and change them to 3D; users can convert ECAD format to CAD (Parasolid).

More efficient CFD solvers

New Web services: Users can download the software and access documents, the COMSOL community, a Model Exchange area, and the COMSOL blog.

And in 2013, the company will sell its Application Server which lets users such as scientists and researchers create customized and reusable simulation models for design engineers.
