Hexapods for Advanced Production Processes and Multi-Axis Platform Stabilization

Aug. 27, 2024
Six-axis hexapods enable new levels of flexibility in precision automation and assembly applications, including aerospace, automotive, photonics & semiconductor manufacturing. Hexapods can also actively stabilize mechanical platforms in 6-DOFs.

Hexapods are based on a parallel-kinematic arrangement of six struts, providing motion in all 6 degrees of freedom, as well as a user programmable pivot point. Hexapods have many advantages over conventional serial kinematics stages, including lower inertia, improved dynamics, smaller package size, and higher stiffness. Integration is facilitated by EtherCat® interfaces. With load capacities from a 10lbs to 2 tons and travel from 10mm to several 100mm while maintaining sub-µm alignment precision, hexapod robots are enabling new production possibilities.
