ZEISS is highlighting a wide range of microscopes and imaging solutions at Medical Device & Manufacturing (MD&M) West, taking place this week at the Anaheim Convention Center. On display at Booth # 948 will be ZEISS Axio Vert.A1 inverted routine microscope for materials, ZEISS Smartzoom 5 digital microscope, and ZEISS Stemi 508 stereo microscope for biological and industrial routine tasks. Along with equipment from ZEISS Microscopy, ZEISS Industrial Metrology will also be featuring a variety of instruments used for quality assurance and control in medical device manufacturing.

ZEISS Axio Vert.A1, an inverted routine microscope for materials, allows researchers to examine large, heavy samples, using a wide range of classic and advanced contrast methods. Users can switch easily among brightfield, darkfield, DIC, C-DIC, fluorescence, and polarization contrast in reflected light. In transmitted light, use brightfield, polarization, and phase contrast. Or, combine several contrast methods for the maximum amount of information. With ZEISS Axio Vert.A1, users can efficiently quantify material structure, evaluate material properties and quality, and use the information to optimize preparation or production processes.

Also on display is ZEISS Smartzoom 5, a smart digital microscope ideal for quality control and quality assurance applications. Quick and easy to set up, fully automated, and equipped with quality-assurance and quality-control components, ZEISS Smartzoom 5 is so simple to operate that even untrained users will produce excellent results. A macro recording mode enhances the workflow for repeat sample analyses of the same type in a step-by-step manner.

Visitors to the booth can see the ZEISS Stemi 508, a quality stereo microscope with mechanics and optics designed for the heavy workloads of everyday lab work and industrial inspections. With apochromatic optics, Stemi 508 displays samples with rich detail, in sharp focus, and free from distortion or color fringes. The large 8:1 zoom enables users to get an overview within a 35 mm object field, and then bring the detail up to 50x magnification with impressive stereoscopic image contrast. With its lower viewing angle of 35-deg., Stemi 508 offers better ergonomics than any other Greenough-type stereo microscope. Users can maintain a relaxed working posture even after hours of work.
