The electric ERD rod-style actuator from Tolomatic Inc., Hamel, Minn., has features that are said to make it ideal for the most-stringent food and beverage applications. A smooth, stainlesssteel body and Viton seals, for example, lets the IP67- rated actuator withstand wash downs with caustic cleaning products. The actuator’s stroke length ranges up to 12 in., and it can deliver up to 200 lb of thrust and speeds to 40 ips.

Users can choose between three main options: SS1, SS2, and IP67. The first is a stainless-steel version available in three sizes. The SS2 comes in two sizes with a protective motor enclosure and several cabling and connection options. Users can also choose between quietly performing solid nuts or more-accurate and longer-life ball nuts.
