ECM applied its core business model and paired its patented PCB Stator innovation with its proprietary PrintStator CAD software to design an electric motor that is smaller, quieter and more durable. These benefits apply to electric pumps as well as to a range of motorized industries and applications. ECM’s machine was designed to offer a next-generation solution for a global pump manufacturer.
The motor technology features:
- an ultra-lightweight design
- efficiency up to 96%
- quiet acoustics
- reduced materials; up to 80% less copper
- low electromagnetic interference
- smooth motion with no cogging.
Supports Shift to Sustainable Energy
The ultralight, premium efficiency pump motor supports the shift to sustainable energy, while reducing company electricity and maintenance costs. With an efficiency of 94%, ECM’s motor is 2.9% higher than the leading market option, according to a company release. It is also 68% lighter at 22 lbs. vs. 67 lbs. of a leading alternative, and a diameter of 315 mm vs. 455 mm.
Key features of the design software include a rapid design cycle; no human error; purpose-built machines; design flexibility; easy manufacturing; and exact motor solutions.
PrintStator optimizes the use of copper and other materials to provide superior torque with less mass. There is no iron in PCB stators and are 70% lighter and use 80% less in raw materials. They remain ultra-thin even at large power ratings and offer compact integration with torque multipliers.
The CAD software will be offered to the public via SaaS in Q4 2023 to scale the benefits of PCB Stator electric motor design to pumps and more.
