The Explorer family of performance class bearings includes a range of newly upgraded self-aligning roller bearings (spherical roller bearings, CARB toroidal roller bearings, and spherical roller thrust bearings). Constructed of upgraded steel with a balance between hardness and toughness for improved wear resistance, the bearings can run longer, particularly under difficult operating conditions.

The bearing’s internal geometry reduces friction, wear, and heat generation and withstands heavier axial and/or radial loads. Rolling elements deliver ideal load distribution and run more smoothly with less vibration. Enhanced cages improve rolling-element guidance and maximize lubricant effects to reduce operating temperatures and extend lubricant life.

An advanced surface finish reduces friction and enhances formation of a hydrodynamic film, which promotes effective lubricant performance and reduces heat generation and wear. A heat-treatment process reinforces bearing hardness, toughness, and dimensional stability.
