Quiet, Low-Pulsing Diaphragm Pump Can Handle Aggressive Fluids

Nov. 22, 2019
The FP 400 from KNF combines the advantages of diaphragm pumps with a pulsation level comparable to gear pumps.

The FP 400 next-generation diaphragm pump from KNF combines the advantages of diaphragm pumps—including self-priming, run-dry capability, and a long, maintenance-free life—with a pulsation level comparable to gear pumps. Pulsations for the pump are less than 150 mbar, and they can be significantly below that with the right tubing and flow path. The pump delivers up to 5 L/min of liquid at back pressures to 15 psi, and flow can be controlled so that is anywhere from  10% to 100% of the nominal flow rate. Flow is fully stable with fluid viscosities ranging between 1 and 150 cSt. The pump can handle viscosities up to 500 cSt, but there is some reduction in flow rate. The pump was designed to move sensitive media. The pump creates few vibrations and operational noise level is below 55 dBA. Materials in the flow path resist chemicals and help give the flow path an IP65 protection rating. The FP 400 is well-suited for recirculation applications in Inkjet printing, medical devices, and fuel cells.
