High-Flow Thermoplastics

April 27, 2006
Ultem HFATX200 is said to be the highest flow polyetherimide or polyester carbonate blend of the Ultem ATX200 family of resins.

It has a lower melt viscosity, so designers can mold parts with longer flow lengths, more complexity, and thinner walls. It also needs lower processing temperatures and shear stress so molding cycle times can drop. It molds parts with better surface aesthetics, which may help reduce the number of scrapped parts. Typical high-temperature applications include thin-wall connectors, lighting reflectors, bezels, and bulb socket bases.
