CAM for four and five-axis machining

July 13, 2006
EdgeCAM 10.5 includes simultaneous four and five-axis machining for parts such as camshafts and blades, as well as for swarf-cutting of tapered walls.

A simulator accurately models the machine tool and toolpath movement. This is particularly useful in five-axis machining, where small changes in angular movement can generate significant movement of the machine tool with potential for expensive crashes. The software includes automatic feature recognition.
