SL Resins Mimic Thermoplastics

March 23, 2006
Two new epoxy-based liquid photopolymers for stereolithography rapid prototyping and rapid tooling are said to approximate the aesthetics of engineering plastics.

Somos 9420 EP White is designed to mimic the mechanical performance of polypropylene. It is a white version of the tough, translucent Somos 9120 SL. Somos Precision HT 12920 is an opaque gray version of high-temperature PhotoTherm 12120. Its stiffness is said to be similar to that of polycarbonate. Its color and opacity reportedly shows fine details.
