Lead-free, low-profile tantalum capacitors from AVX Corp., Myrtle Beach, S.C., work for height-constrained applications and meet RoHS regs for endoflife disposal of hazardous materials

Lead-free, low-profile tantalum capacitors from AVX Corp., Myrtle Beach, S.C., work for height-constrained applications and meet RoHS regs for endoflife disposal of hazardous materials. The caps come in heights of 1.2, 1.5, and 2.0 mm, about that of a standard IC after mounting.

Capacitance values range from 0.1 to 22 F with a tolerance of ±10 to ±20%. Operating temperature range is 55 to 125°C. Applications include computer power supplies, disk drives, cellular phones, and PCMCIA cards. The capacitors come on standard 7 and 13-in. reels in quantities of 500 to 10,000.
