Sandable Adhesive

Sept. 2, 2004
Plastic Welder SD (sandable) adhesive bonds PPO, PVC, and various polyesters, polycarbonates, styrenics, and composites where filler material must be sanded to a smooth, nonporous finish.

Its lowexotherm formula exhibits no expansion or foaming. A structural methacrylate adhesive that needs little or no surface preparation, the material fills gaps, bonds to "green" fiberglass without sagging, and can be used to join engineered plastics to dissimilar substrates such as metals, ceramics, and wood. It produces high-strength, load-bearing bonds that resist weathering, impact, and peeling and withstand service temperatures to 250°F. It has a working time of about 5 min and attains functional cure in 2 to 4 hr at room temperature. Mixed as dispensed (1:1), it is available in resealable 47-ml cartridges and 10-gallon kits.
