Ball Screws With Elastic Spacers

April 1, 2005
The UltraSpeed KES ball nut incorporates elastic spacers between the balls and plastic tubes in the recirculating channels for high speeds.

This design also eliminates interball friction and torque buildup for consistent pulsation-free motion at slow speeds. The ball nut has dual-ball return systems with deflectors that guide the balls in a tangential direction away from the shaft and into the return channels integrated inside the nut body. The return channels include plastic tubes that allow separation of the ball return from the nut body, reducing noise. The UltraSpeed KES has a 160,000-dn rating making it capable of operating a 40-mm-diameter ball screw at speeds to 4,000 rpm.
