Demod-DC in-line signal conditioners, for use with DVRT displacement sensors, have only three connections — power, ground, and analog out — for easy plug-and-play implementation. The units filter incoming transients from the line voltage and supply a sinewave excitation to the transducer. A precision demodulator provides rectification and differential amplification; digitally trimmed offset and gain optimize the conditioner to the transducer; and the analog output is filtered and buffered for clean, high-level output signals up to 20 kHz. The conditioner's small size permits close proximity to the transducer, reducing susceptibility to noise injection. The units can be configured to operate at inertial loads up to 10,000 g, and operate on a wide input voltage range from 6 to 16 Vdc.
