Optical Fiber Liquid-Level Sensor

Sept. 27, 2007
The Series 1010 synthetic optical-fiber sensor does contact-level detection in all nonmilky-white liquids.

The unit features an AISI 303-stainless-steel housing, a scratch-resistant glass prism, and fully potted optical parts for an IP68 protection level making it impervious to most harsh liquids. Two individual fibers with an outside diameter of 2.2 mm and an inner fiber of 0.5 mm give high resolution to liquid- level measurements. The standard 2-m cable can be cut to length for neater appearance and safety considerations. The fiber material is PMMA with a sleeve of PE and a fiber-bending radius of 25 mm. Ambient operating temperature is from –25 to 70°C Contrinex Inc., 2 Business Park Rd., Old Saybrook, CT 06475, (860) 388- 3573, contrinex.com
