When and where: This is an ongoing series; seminars will be held in Schaumburg, Ill., near Chicago O'Hare airport

Details: Omron Electronics LLC offers courses covering programmable logic controller (PLC) programming and advanced sensor and vision systems. Attendees can complete PLC programming basics and intermediate-level courses in five days. The intensive hands-on courses present automation challenges typically encountered in plant operations to prepare students to design, use, and troubleshoot systems efficiently. Students use Omron's CX-One automation software.

International Manufacturing Technology Show

What: IMTS

When and where: September 13 to 18, 2010, Chicago's McCormick Place

Details: A keynote luncheon will feature speakers from aerospace, automotive, energy, and medical manufacturing industries. A roundtable panel discussion will conclude the luncheon, held from 12 to 3 p.m. in McCormick's West building. IMTS attendees registered for a conference session will be admitted. Conferences (September 14 to 17) will focus on engineering, machining technology, alternative manufacturing processes, and energy efficiency.
