Yokogawa names Chester Mroz president and CEO

Yokogawa Electric Corp. announces Chester Mroz as the new president and CEO of Yokogawa Corp. of America, Houston. He has held positions at Foxboro, Texas Instruments, and ABB Automation Group Ltd., in addition to consulting work. Moog acquires Animatics

Animatics Corp., Santa Clara, Calif., was recently acquired by Moog Inc., East Aurora, N.Y. The two companies have worked together for more than 10 years, with Moog supplying core motor components to Animatics for its SmartMotor product lines. David McMurtry named Royal Fellow

Sir David McMurtry, chairman of Renishaw plc (with U.S. headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Ill.), was named a Fellow of the Royal Society, the UK's national academy of science. Early Fellows include Isaac Newton, Robert Boyle, and Charles Darwin. Sir David joins a group of the most respected scientists and engineers from the UK and the Commonwealth, all elected for life after a rigorous peer review. McMurtry is one of 44 new Fellows and eight new Foreign Members, including experts working on drug-resistant malaria and understanding the solar system. From the time he invented the touch trigger probe in the early 1970s, Sir David has been at the forefront of measurement technology with his name on more than 150 patents. Motoman Robotics offers continuing education

The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) has recertified Motoman Robotics, Dayton, Ohio, as an Authorized Provider under the new ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard. Motoman, a division of Yaskawa America Inc., has been such a provider since 1993. IACET Authorized Providers are the only organizations approved to offer IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Motoman's programs train hundreds of engineers and manufacturing personnel each year at the company's Technical Education Center featuring robots and a welding lab for hands-on learning, plus a curriculum of more than 75 courses such as basic and advanced programming, maintenance, and concurrent I/O.
