igus inc., East Providence, R.I., is holding its third “vector award competition” to reward challenging and innovative applications using cable carrier systems. The submission deadline is February 28. More than 110 entrants, hailing from the U.S., Canada, China, India, Korea, Singapore, Brazil, and Europe, competed last year. CEZ Group, an energy supplier in the Czech Republic, took home first place: The application, a 2,018-ft cable carrier system in a lignite-fired power plant, is currently the longest in the world using an igus Energy Chain cable carrier.
