Scanning For Ideas: Profibus Connector Designed With Field Installation in Mind

March 6, 2008
The Profibus- DP five-pole connector from Lumberg Automation, Midlothian, Va. (lumberg-automationusa.com), is easy enough to install that technicians can do so in the field with simple tools.

There are only two parts: a housing and a contact carrier with locknuts. The connectors are fully shielded and provide IP67 and NEMA-6P protection (when fully locked). Nominal voltage is 60 V; nominal amperage is 4 A. Contacts are precopper-plated brass. They operate in temperatures from –13 to 104°F.
