Adjusting the height of any table

It's much easier and more comfortable to work at a table that's the right height.

But many tables and workbenches cannot be adjusted for height. One solution is to install a Movotec retrofit lift system from Suspa Inc., Grand Rapids, Mich.suspa.com. It consists of a pump, tubing, and some telescoping lift cylinders, usually one per table leg. The pump can be motorized or use a simple hand crank. The lift cylinders easily bolt onto table legs, according to the manufacturer, and come in five sizes. The cylinders can lift up to 1,000 lb, a total of 11.8 in. The system keeps the table level despite unbalanced loads. Up to eight cylinders can be attached to a table, desk, hospital examining table, or other working surface. Work surfaces can even be tilted on industrial versions of the systems.
