Magnetic Rotary Angle Sensor Helps Reduce Rotary Shaft Wear

Jan. 15, 2015
Novotechnik U.S. introduces new magnetic programmable rotary angle sensor.

The Vert-X 32E Series from Novotechnik U.S. is a programmable rotary angle sensor. A permanent magnet is mounted to the rotating shaft and the sensors are touchless magnetic angle sensors. There is no direct contact between the mechanical linkage and the measuring system, which eliminates wear on the mechanical rotating shaft.

Vert-X 32E can be programmed via USB and the software called EasyAdapt. The sensor is CiA-certified for serial communications and supports real-time control. The output characteristics include angle range and zero point and the gradient of direction versus direction of rotation can be programmed. Novotechnik sells single and redundant versions. The sensors have a 0 to 360° measurement range, resolution up to 16-bit, a repeatability of 0.1° or better, and a max hysteresis of 0.1°. Its power supply range is 8 to 35 V, and it has an ingress protection rating of IP 68 with an operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C.
