Summary
There are over 200,000 CNC machine operators in North America today, but that number is declining, and businesses are turning to robots to help fill the gap. Even in high-mix, lower volume operations, manufacturers are deploying robot operators to fill their workforce gap, increase machine time, and alleviate employees from repetitive work over long shifts. The most challenging part of the transition is knowing how to get started. Join this webinar to hear from Brian Kobus, Business Development Manager from Universal Robots and Alex Koepsel, Director of Product Marketing from Vention, as they explore a practical guide for evaluating your own CNC process, identifying the potential benefits of automation, and starting to transition to what will be the inevitable future for manufacturers.
Participants will learn about the operational tradeoffs of manual operators vs robot operators, how to estimate automation results, the fundamentals of robotics needed to make an educated decision, and how to get started on their own and plan for semi-automated production.
Key Takeaways:
- Overview of collaborative robots
- How to estimate your automation benefits and the ROI of robotic machine tending
- Overview of components of a robotic machine tending system, their purpose, and when they’re needed
- Comparing “off-the-shelf” robot solutions versus customized solutions
- Real-world examples in CNC machining, including lessons learned
- (Free) Design resources to get started instead of starting from scratch
