Modular Power System

May 19, 2005
Designers can integrate highdensity lithium-ion battery technology into their electronics or electromechanical designs with a new family of modular power-supply components.

The Intelligent Battery and Power System (IBPS) offers manufacturers a fully engineered drop-in solution for adding autonomous battery-based power to new or existing designs. Features include a turnkey power supply with instant Li-ion battery backup and notebook functionality plug in to run or charge and unplug to switch to autonomous battery power. It uses high-volume, low-cost energy-dense Li-ion smart battery packs, comes with intuitive Windows-based GUI, and conditions "dirty" dc power to protect sensitive equipment. The modular power blocks can be scaled and aggregated to meet voltage or regulated dc requirements of 95 to over 12,000 W-hr at 3.3 to 48 Vdc. Users can predefine alarm conditions to direct the system to take appropriate steps such as at soft shutdowns.
