Concurve planetary right-angle gearboxes by ITW Spiroid, Glenview, Ill., are compact but strong, say company officials, with a design that incorporates larger, stronger teeth than standard involute gears. Three standard frame sizes are available with continuous torque ratings of 300, 1,000, and 2,000 lb-in., respectively. The gearboxes also have peak torque ratios to 4,000 lb-in. and sound levels of <70 dB at full-rated load and 3,000 rpm.
