In cam design, determine first the performance required at significant points on cam profiles, then the manner of transition between them. This article provides convenient expressions for conditions at points and during transition periods. For the latter particularly, displacement tables derived with trigonometric functions simplify calculation of final cam profiles which minimize vibration due to cam action.
